Tristan Tzara (April 16, 1896 – December 25, 1963) is the pen name of Samuel Rosenstock, Jewish Romanian poet and essayist, born at Moinesti, settled later in France, co-founder of Dada cultural movement which led to a major revolution in visual arts and literature.
The best known Dada texts of Tzara are: “La premiere aventure celeste de Monsieur Antipyrine” – 1916 (“The First Celestial Adventure of Mr. Antipyrine”) and “Vingt-cinq poemes” – 1918 (“25 poems”) and the manifestoes of the movement: “Sept manifests Dada” – 1924 (“7 Dada manifestoes”).
In 1929 he joins the Surrealism and he devotes himself to reconcile Surrealism with Marxism. He died in Paris and was buried in Cimetiere de Montparnasse.
